ElevenLabs: if you only need the voice

Not an avatar tool. Pick it when you used HeyGen mainly for voice, translation or dubbing.

If the presenter on screen doesn’t matter, a voice tool can be cheaper. ElevenLabs Starter is $6/mo for 30,000 credits (about 30 minutes of text to speech) with a commercial license, instant voice cloning and Dubbing Studio. Pair it with footage from a video model.

Pros

  • $6/mo entry with a commercial license

  • Credits roll over up to two months on paid plans

FAQs

What is the best HeyGen alternative?
It depends on the job. For training and business video, Synthesia is the closest swap and has a free 10-minute monthly allowance. Colossyan is training-first with a free Starter plan. D-ID has the cheapest paid entry. ElevenLabs fits if you only need a voice.
Is there a free HeyGen alternative?
Yes. Synthesia Basic renews 10 minutes of watermarked video a month, and Colossyan showed its Starter plan as Free with 20 minutes a month on Oct 16, 2026. D-ID offers a 14-day trial with 3 minutes.
Is Synthesia cheaper than HeyGen?
At the entry level, yes on list price: Synthesia Starter is $19/mo ($14 yearly) versus HeyGen Creator at $29/mo on HeyGen’s default view. They count usage differently (Synthesia minutes and credits, HeyGen credits), so compare on the videos you’ll make.
Which HeyGen alternative allows commercial use?
Check each vendor’s live terms. D-ID lists its commercial use license on Pro and above; Synthesia removes its logo from Starter up; Colossyan removes the watermark from Professional up.
Does HeyGen have a free plan?
Yes, with limits. HeyGen's pricing page says: "You can try HeyGen for free, no credit card required. The Free plan includes up to 3 videos per month, and limited trial access to premium features like Avatar IV, Video Agent, and lip-sync translation". Its plan card lists Free videos as watermarked and up to 1 minute each (heygen.com/pricing, checked 2026-10-22).
How much does HeyGen lip sync cost?
HeyGen bills lip-synced video translation in credits: "Speed (regular) mode costs 6 credits per minute, while Precision mode costs 10 credits per minute. Video translations without lip-sync cost 4 credits per minute." (HeyGen help center, checked 2026-10-22). Its help center works that out as about 100 minutes of Speed translation on Creator's 600 credits and 166 minutes on Pro's 1,000.
