Rainstorm golf shot physics test
What they did
A brutal physics prompt (a golfer driving off a cliff tee in a violent rainstorm) designed to test ball tracking and weather.
How it went
The creator ran it on Sora 2, Veo 3.1 and Seedance 2.0 and says only Seedance tracked the ball correctly.
Copy prompt
only Seedance nailed the ball tracking
We tried a pretty brutal test for video models.
The prompt includes:
• extreme weather (violent rainstorm)
• complex physics (golf ball flight + wind)
• a dynamic tracking camera locked onto a tiny moving object
• long continuous motion without cuts
Most models struggle badly when the camera has to
So I gave the same prompt to Sora 2, Veo 3.1, and Seedance 2.0.
Seedance 2.0 is the only one that survived.
It actually manages to lock onto the golf ball mid-flight, keep it centered, and maintain the motion while the environment streaks past.
Exactly the type of shot you'd see in a sports commercial or cinematic broadcast replay.
Prompt used:
"A dramatic sports sequence begins on a lush, windswept coastal cliff during a violent rainstorm. A golfer in bright yellow rain gear stands on the tee box, gripping a driver. His stance is planted firmly, eyes locked on a distant green across a churning ocean cove.
As he swings, the clubhead connects with a resounding crack, launching the dimpled white ball into the stormy sky. The camera immediately accelerates and locks onto the golf ball mid-flight.
The camera tracks directly behind the spinning sphere, maintaining perfect alignment as it cuts through the driving rain. The ocean waves and dark clouds become a streaking motion blur while the ball remains sharp and centered.
The howling wind roars as the projectile travels straight and true. The manicured green grows rapidly larger. In the final seconds, the camera closes in tightly as the ball strikes the turf. End on an extreme close-up of the ball ripping through the wet grass, throwing up a spray of dirt before
